Learnings from the Cap King Store
When I started getting serious about business, I discovered dropshipping. I got excited because making money that way seemed fun and easy.
I started out with what I always have done: I found a training program online and took detailed notes of everything.
It turned out that business is not like math: nothing happens if you don’t take action. Doing exercises is not enough.
That is when I changed my mind and became the next version of myself.
I had always been the daydreamer, the thinker. I wanted to be a businessman.
So I signed a contract with myself, to ensure that I would be serious about doing stuff. And I did!
I created The Cap King Store 1, an online shop selling premium hats.
Over the following months, I sourced products, created visuals and branding, and tried my chance on Facebook Ads.
As it turned out, I did not make even ONE sale. Not a single dime.
But at least I entered the world of entrepreneurship.
It was the first benefit I gained from my nascent “carreer”: Becoming action-driven.
Main mistakes
- Making everything in English and targeting people from the U.S. while I knew nothing about that market -> Better focusing on low-hanging fruits.
- Putting pictures of hats only on Instagram instead of skate or urban culture content -> No one wants to see a simple website on an IG page.
- Gambling on social media ads instead of looking at the math -> Take data-driven decisions.
The Shopify website is down. The only public vitrine left from my store is the Facebook page.↩
